TROPICAAAAAL YAR

It’s our last evening here in France before we catch the late plane home, so we’re having a light dinner at the beach and opting for comfy clothing which will see us through the hopefully not too drastic contrast in weather, from the sunny South of France to cloudy England...
It’s been a lovely weekend of much needed sleep, relaxing in the sun and forgetting our London-based worries and woes!

So here’s this evenings outfit...

BONJOUR MES AMIS

Whilst being in France it has come to our attention the distinguishable difference between French and English street style...
Le French tend to be very much BCBG style, where as Londoners are more risqué and on  the edge, and much more playful with colours and clothing.

...So whilst we've been researching le style du Français, we stumbled across these!!!

... Exciting!!!

Today we also did some browsing in a few of the lovely boutiques along the sea front, and picked up a gorgeous Serpent ring and had a try on of some heavenly Miu Miu
as well as Thierry Lasry sunnies from their new collections. We were fascinated by
Miu Miu's  latest sunglasses design from their Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
These sunglasses still maintain Miu Miu's classical elegance and sophistication, however they have brought a new edge to them with their 'semi-rimless' design.

These Miu Miu beauties are also available as prescription glasses.

... And these are the Thierry Lasry darlings which may be featured in some upcoming posts!

And Another Open Day...

Today I made my second college visit to London College of Fashion. Right in the heart of London off Oxford Street lies the John Prince's Street site which is their main exhibition space, providing a place for high-tech catwalk shows and lectures.
''London College of Fashion's rich heritage and responsiveness to changes in design practice have positioned it as a leading global provider of fashion education, research and consultancy.''

What stunned me was the wide range of courses available. These included fashion buying and marketing, knitwear, fashion styling, beauty and spa, photography, sportswear, womenswear, menswear...these are only a few of the long list of courses available. Something that I really picked up was the emphasis on the fact that fashion is not all just about dresses, but SO MUCH MORE !! Today the fashion industry is worth approximately £21 billion...which indicates how much fashion has become a part of peoples lives. Its important more people start to realise how big the fashion buisness is... Paula Reed, style director at Grazia magazine, said: "For a long time people have underestimated fashion in terms if its importance to the wealth of the nation. The general attitude often seems to be that working in fashion isn't a real job – but it is in fact lots of people's 'real jobs'."

On that note I shall leave you with a few interesting fashion industry facts and I thoroughly encourage any of you that are interested in the fashion industry to visit LCF, as I was blown away at their enthusiasm and expertise in their knowledge and love for the global phenomenon that is FASHION.

In 2008 consumers spent £46bn on clothes and shoes alone (not counting make up, glossy magazines and other related purchases)

London fashion week makes £20m a year for the capital and draws in orders of £100 million

The fashion industry's contribution – directly and indirectly – to UK GDP is estimated at £37.2bn in 2009. Of this £20.9bn is due directly to retail, wholesale and manufacture

An Afternoon at LCC...

So as I mentioned in a previous post, last Friday Mia and I visited London College of Communication for an Open Day which included a talk from one of the directors and a guide round the main building in Elephant & Castle (South East London). The college specialises in graphic design and advertising, photography, film and animation and journalism, which are only a few of the courses LCC offer.

I advise anyone who's interested in the creative industries, especially the digital world to visit LCC and get as blown away as I was...

If I were to describe my fist impression of LCC in one word it would be IMPRESSIVE... Everything from the facilities such as its television and film studios, darkrooms and print rooms to the art instillations and pieces that were on display as a part of the graduate show were outstanding! This exciting day made my future seem a lot more exciting as it was the first university Open Day I visited, and when the day comes for me to attend University, it will be for an average of four years, depending on which course and which University I go to.

So here we go with the pictures...

So much love for KENZO right now!

My favourite designer of the moment, by far is KENZO
Their fun and exotic animal prints cause me the problem of being unable to resist all their items, especially their shirts and trousers.
Saw these two pieces from the collection that I just fell in love with and had to treat myself!

These clouded leopard jacquard trousers made with baroque fabric
and tailored to a tapered shape, and give any outfit
an exotic twist. I like to roll them at the bottom slightly
so the fluorescent pink interior is visible.
...Perfect for day or night!

... as well as this sophisticated white shirt which is embellished with
their signature tiger motif to give it a fun and playful edge.
What I love about this shirt is the fastened point-collar and the concealed buttons.

Eh Bien...

HELLO HELLO HELLO

Welcome to my world, the world of Annabelle Jordan...

So I've been contemplating creating a blog for a while now, but due to the overload of work, exams and all that stressful nonsense I've only just got round to doing it!

Currently sitting in my living room, listening to Françoise Hardy, rain pouring in the background and multiple Diptyque candles burning (fav is the FEU DE BOIS and FIGUIER) I'm reflecting upon my extremely successful shopping trip in Portobello Market, which is basically my second home. You'll never believe the fact that i just bought a Burberry bomber/jacket for the amazing bargain of £45 !!!

So heres to our new beginning...we shall see where this takes us.

xoxo yar

P.S. my ickle friend MIA will be joining us on our voyage into the unknown
